The Nightingale was a Kraylor vessel that appeared to be a medical supply ship, but it was actually testing a new cloaking device. The Kraylor were a Delta Quadrant species, who were at war with the neighboring Annari and their homeworld had been blockaded by Annari vessels. It was almost impossible for supply ships transporting food and medicine to reach the planet’s surface. Despite being protected by a shield grid, which prevented the Annari from launching an invasion force, the Kraylor population was slowly being starved into submission.
