The fee nobody puts on the pricing page
Their free plan adds an extra 3% on every Stripe transaction, on top of Stripe's own rate. Only an Extended pass or higher removes it, so their cheapest way out of the fee is $199.50 the first year and $399 every year after. Their own documentation adds that the fee applies to subscription renewals too, and that it returns the moment a licence expires. lfdp charges 0% on your sales, free plan and Pro alike, forever. Sell $50,000 a year through Stripe on their free plan and you hand over $1,500. On lfdp: nothing.

Is the free plan a trial?
No. It is a complete store: catalog, cart, checkout, Stripe, Square and PayPal at 0% platform fee, discount codes, reviews, wish lists, bundles, lead magnets, sequential order numbers, multi-currency, checkout A/B testing, a full REST API and the EDD importer. You move to Pro when you need software licensing, subscriptions, the marketplace, extra gateways or advanced analytics.
What exactly does a perpetual licence mean?
You pay $79 for a licence that never expires. Every feature you bought keeps working for as long as you run the plugin. Renewing at $79 a year only keeps updates and support coming. Skip it and nothing switches off: no feature locks, and no transaction fee appears.
Can I really migrate from Easy Digital Downloads?
Yes. lfdp ships with a built-in importer that brings over your products, customers and orders, plus a compatibility layer on Pro so your existing custom hooks keep working. Install lfdp alongside what you have, run the importer, check the numbers, then switch.
How many sites can I use it on?
The free edition is unlimited, because it is simply free software. A Pro licence activates on one production site; staging and development copies are not counted against you.
Do you take a cut of my sales?
Never, on either edition. There is no platform fee, no per-transaction charge and no revenue share. Your payment processor bills you its own rate and that is the end of it.
What happens to my data if I leave?
